Keyword Blur (Page-wide)

PureBlur Documentation

What is Keyword Blur

Keyword Blur is a batch blur mode: select any word on a webpage, and PureBlur automatically finds all matching text across the page and applies blur to all of them. It supports dynamically loaded content — newly appearing matching text is blurred instantly. This mode shares the same toolbar button as Text Selection Blur, toggled via sub-mode switching.

How to Use

  • Click the "🌎" page-wide keyword button in the control panel
  • Select the text you want to blur on the page (e.g., your real name, company name, project code, etc.)
  • PureBlur automatically scans and blurs all matching text on the page
  • The rule is persisted and automatically applied the next time you visit the same site

Use Cases

Batch-hiding large amounts of recurring sensitive information:

  • Internal system names and URLs
  • Project code names or client names
  • Specific numbers or code snippets that appear repeatedly on a page

Current Limitations

Currently, keyword matching uses exact text matching (not regex) for identical text content on the same page. Future versions plan to support custom rules for more flexible matching. Note: for auto-detecting email addresses, phone numbers, ID numbers, and other formatted sensitive information, use the "Smart Scan" feature.
